Biography

Andrew Hong is swing dance/solo jazz teacher, performer and choreographer. His main passion is Lindy Hop and Solo Charleston. He has traveled the world as a dancer and competitor. He runs the SoloJazz team – “ASN” in South Korea. He received many awards such as Korean Lindy Hop Championships.

Andrew Hong started dancing when he was 27(Korean age). He has performed and competed with other partners in his home country(South Korea). He especially got stuck in solo jazz and jazz music. He loves to share what he feels from the dancing. He loves swing dancing as well because it brings people together and spreads joy between them. He believes in it is more than just a dance. He emphasize that we should know its origin and its history. Please see below for that.

“Lindy Hop is an African American partner dance that originated between 1920’s and 30’s in Harlem, New York. At the famous Savoy Ballroom in Harlem lots of names that made the history of the dance emerged. Just to name a few: Shorty George Snowden, All Minns, Norma Miller, Willa Mae Ricker, Frieda Washington and Frankie Manning. Frankie Manning, belonging to the second generation of Lindy Hoppers was an innovator, choreographer and became a role model for today dance scene. Dancers could dance to big names like Cab Calloway, Chick Webb, Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie.

Andrew Hong’ goal is to share the hapiness and sensation of freedom from swing dance/solo jazz. Keep practing, creating and expressing with Andrew Hong. It will make you be a free human being and great dancer.


What is [SJ projects] ?
: This is a SoloJazz project to introduce dancers who love the dancing in the world. We care both pro and amateur. Please don’t hesitate to promote yourself as a SoloJazz dancer.
