Vision
Andrew Hong is a humanist and artist who blends tradition and innovation, working to preserve authentic jazz culture while supporting environmental and DEI initiatives within swing jazz. He sees Lindy Hop and Swing Dance as core to Black culture, merging spontaneous Vernacular Jazz with rebellious Grotesque energy—creative responses to oppression and movements for artistic freedom.

‘Orientation Toward the Earth’
Andrew Hong’s “Ecological Jazz Movements” reconnects human expression with the natural world through improvised jazz and embodied awareness. His work mourns ecosystems disappearing under capitalist pressures, transforming improvisation into ecological attentiveness. By articulating the resistance of endangered species through movements inspired by living organisms and jazz rhythms, he grounds jazz dance in environmental consciousness—creating art that honors both Black cultural traditions and our planetary home while bridging human dignity with ecological justice.
